Ajuga...we grow only the new hybrid "politely spreading" groundcovers...
   'Chocolate Chip’ miniature deep chocolate leaves, mid-blue flowers. NOT INVASIVE.
   ‘Frost Song’ variegated silver & rose tinted leaves. NOT INVASIVE.
   ‘Mahogony’ very large leaves in deepest tones, a great match with Cimicifugas! Blossoms are large and a good blue. NOT INVASIVE.

Asarina scandens...half hardy perennial, delightful delicate vining bloomer. Great in baskets.
Asarum euopaeum, European Wild Ginger...groundcover for shady, moist areas. Unusual blooms.
*Asarum canadensis, native wild ginger...larger heartshaped glossy leaves, a must!
Astilbe-Chinesis var. pumila...the wonderful groundcover Astilbe. Sturdy plump vivid raspberry pink blossoms in August & Sept. Slugs leave this alone as they do all Astilbes.
Astilbe, deep pink, pale pink and white shades, which bloom at different times.
   ‘Country & Western’... NEW! Bright and much fuller plumes of incredible pink in this hybrid. Blooms are sterile which translates to longer and repeat blooming times.

Bachelor Buttons...annual, easily reseeding blue blossoms in summer in memory of my Dad, who always grew them & loved them even though they’re "just bachelor buttons" & who taught me the love of growing and reverence for the earth and all living creatures.
Bacopa-White, lavender and blue ...non-stop blooming filler, replaces lobelia and alyssum.No deadheading involved! somewhat tender perennial that will surive mild winters with protection.
Bergenia ‘Appleblossom PPAF NEW! Spring Bloom of large 1-2" white flowers which matures to pink with a dark pink throat. Evergreen foliage with bronze hues in winter. Prt Shade.15-18"
*Brunnera...macrophylla....Siberian Bugloss Variegated Forms.... SLUGS DON’T EAT THIS! These will grow and bloom well in absolutely NO sun...just bright shade. Blossoms resemble sprays of forget-me-nots, so you get the lovely true blue flowers without the reseeding weediness of the true forget-me-nots. Most years they will bloom from late January through June. A must have!
   "Jack Frost"-you must see this to believe what beauty the white frosted leaves create!
   NEW! "Looking Glass"- child of Jack Frost (above), more frosted with paler green margins.
   "Dawson’s White"- More definite white & green patterns, very striking less apt to scorch.

Buddlea..Butterfly Bush...guess who loves this. We grow several colors inclulding deep purple and also several dwarf forms ( in Buddlea this means 5 feet tall instead of 12)
Callicarpa-Beauty Berry...bright purple berries in winter...5-6 ft tall shrub. Prune in winter.
Campanula-Full Sun to light shade in Puget Sound areas, good drainage.
"Bavaria Blue" NEW! low-growing, spreading type with lt blue double blooms. Great in containers.
   "Hot Lips" NEW! also low-growing. Speckled inner blossoms are quite large & bell-shaped.
   *"Jane Elliot"-purple outward facing bells on 12-15" tall plants.
   *"Cherry Bells"-Exhuberant plant with lovely dangling pink bell blossoms.

Cerinthe-major purpurescens, incredible Purple & Blue growth & blooms. Tender perennial, partial sun moist humusy well-drained soil. Reseeds a colony of babies each spring!
*Chelone, Turtlehead...purple or white turtlehead shaped blooms in Fall. Very hardy, moist shade lover. We have an unusually tall variety....24-30" !
*Cimicifuga, racemosa...We grow the dark foliaged ones. Tiny white incredibly fragrant blossoms on tall spires in late summer. The scent repels misquitos! Moist soil is a must. This is a great plant for that low, heavy boggy area...don’t we all have at least one!
   "Brunette"... The orginal "dark haired-beauty" Requires a min. of 5 hrs sun for dark foliage.5-6’
   "Black Negligee", Lovely! Also needs the minimum 5 hrs sun to keep the darkest tones.
   "James Compton"-dwarf form. 15" or so.
   "Hillside Black Beauty"... develops dark foliage even in total shade! This will also be 5-6’
   "Wild Song Midnite Sonata"-our own seed grown form... darker foliage in less sun than Brunette.

Clematis-One of the most popular of all climbing vines, clematis flowers are irrestistibly beautiful and indispensible in the garden. Use them to liven up any dull space by growing them on fences, arbors, pergolas, obselisks or even over large shrubs. Hardy in zones 4-8.

   "Blue Angel" Sky blue flowers with lighter central bars and yellow-green stamens. Tepals have a fine silky texture and ruffled edges. 1992 Gold Medal winner at Plantarium in Boskoop, Netherlands. Pruning Group 3
   "Multi-Blue" Deep blue double flowers. Central tepals and the tips of the petals are both light silvery-blue. Flowers go through many stages: the center petals are small when young then expand as the guard petals age. Pruning Group 2
   "Ramona" Pale lavender-blue flowers with deep red anthers. Performs well in hot, sunny sites. Beautiful when allowed to drape over small trees and shrubs. Suitable for growing in containers. Pruning Group 3
   "Hagley Hybrid" The speckled, subtle shell-pink to pinkish mauve flowers of this selectin tend to lighten up as they age. The flower coloris best preserved in partial shade. A good choice for growingin containers. Pruning Group 3


Terniflora-‘Sweet Autumn Clematis’ A small-flowered selection that blooms profusely in autumn. Very small, sweetly fragrant, creamy white flowers smother the bushy foliage for nearly two months, just as the leaves on the trees begin to turn color. Stunning! Pruning Group 3
   "Polish Spriit"-A small flowered variety with deep velvety purple blossoms. A strong climber and vigorous grower. Recipient of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit in 1993. Pruning Group 3

*Cornus canadensis, Bunchberry... groundcover dogwood, incredible white dogwood blossoms in early summer. Loves acid soil plant in 75-80% peat in shade to get established.

Cornus,* Red Twig Dogwood...deciduous shrub, deep red stems wonderful winter color.
   NEW! "Midwinter Fire"...bright fire shades on exciting new colored variety.
   NEW! "Dwarf Red Twig Dogwood" shorter form is great at front of border. Copice after leaves drop after first freeze in Fall.
Corydalis.. Woodland Shade Perennials Some forms from N. America, blues originating in China. All love moist humusy soil, woodland part shade or cool sun conditions. Most are intensely fragrant, releasing their scents morn & eve!

Currant, Flowering Red...native growing 6-8’ tall, woodland edge plant, Sun-part Sun. Don’t miss this!
*Darmera, peltata, rare bog plant, sends up a "fist" of pink blooms prior to round leaves emerging in Spring.
Delphinium ‘Blushing ‘Bride-New PINK SHADES! An old-fashioneded favorite for traditional perennial gardens. Effective in borders and cutting gardens.The New Miliennium series is bred by Dowdeswell’s of New Zealand. These outstanding hybrids have strong stems and heavily petalled flowers of exceptional color and form. Plants are long-lived and very tolerant of heat and humidity. 5-6’tall, 18-24" apart, Full Sun.
Dicentra, NEW! ‘Gold Heart’ CPBRAF This brilliant spring beauty will shine like a beacon in the spring and summer landscape. It is a selection of Nori Pope from england’s Hadspen House. Produces arching sprays of pink bleeding hearts in spring above shocking gold foliage. Best in light shade and moist soil. Excellent in the shade garden combined with our dark foliaged cimicifugas and ‘Frosted Violet’ Heucheras, and accented with Ajuga ‘Mahogany’.
   "King of Hearts" Deep pink blossoms from March ‘til frost! Reliably perennial.

Dicentra, spectabilis "Alba" white bleeding heart. Deer don’t like this! Goes summer dormant. •D.spectabilis...pink bleeding heart. Dig & separate every 4-5 years to retain vigor.
Didicus, "Wedding Party", pastel Queen Anne’s lace blossoms on sun loving reseeding annuals.
Didicus caeruleus, Blaudolde (Blue Lace Flower) same as above but in blue.
Disporum flavens...much sought-after by collectors and shade gardeners, Korean classic allied with Solomon’s Seal. Elegant vertical shoots to 2’, gently branched and graced with perfectly in-scale pendulous yellow flowers at their apex. Good humusy soil.
*Epimedium....dry shade Lover! Survives slugs too. heart shaped leaved tall groundcover, pink, yellow or white tiny blossoms in spring. Woodland garden must have!

Eupatorium "Baby Joe" -Dwarf Joy Pye- moist soil, full/prt Sun.Striking ‘cotton candy’ pink flowers.
Evergreen Huckleberry...our pick for best foliage/berry shrub. Native, deep blue winter berries, shiny deep green evergreen foliage. Grows tall in shade, short in sun....can’t ask for more than this!
Falliopa ‘Variegata’ Japanese Fleece Flower...Heart shaped leaves are variegated with splashes of dark green on a creamy white background. New growth is coral pink. Clump forming. A good spreading groundcover. Popularly used on slopes and banks to help prevent erosion. 4’tall, space 12-18" apart, Shade/Part Shade.
Filipendula rubra "Venustra", Queen of the Prairie 6’tall rosepink plumes like cotton candy in midsummer Full Sun, moist soil.
Geranium macrorhizum, Cranesbill...True Geraniums. We grow mainly Shade loving varieties. "Phaeum" Mourning Widow with deep maroon almost black flowers
Gunnera tinctoria...From Patagonia, the land that time forgot, comes this definition of dramatic! Leaves to 6 feet across. Loves a pond or stream edge, wet/moist deep rich soil a must. Clear away old leaves in fall and cover crown with dry leaves, branches etc for winter mulch. Manure topdressing in spring and lots of water gets you maximum leaf size. Flowers are like huge primeval pine cones extending from crown. Sun if ample water or light shade. Not to be missed!
Helleborus
   *orientalis, Lenten Rose...Partial to Full Shade, rich humusy moist soil. Evergreen, blooming from January through March and April. Siting under deciduous trees gives it winter sun and summer shade.White to rosy purple blooms speckled with maroon.
   "Winter Queen" NEW! Hybrid forms....not to be missed!
   "Honeyhill Joy", "Fire & Ice."
   Native species: green blooms in Spring, likes more sun than orientalis. Very exhuberant.

Heuchera, Coral Bells...Evergreen & hardy, for morning or filtered sun. Hundreds of new varieties! Attract butterflys and hummingbirds.....loverly year around interest.Colors range from variegated through golden.

Hostas...foliage for shade. Flower spikes are an added bonus.

‘Blue Mouse Ears’, Small round gray-green leaves are comprised of a substance so thick you have to feel it to believe it. Lavender flowers on short scapes proportionate to the clump top it in midsummer. A must have hosta for the collector and rock garden enthusiast.

   ‘Matucana’ heirloom- smaller flowers than hybrids but intensely fragrant purple blossoms.
Lathyrus latifolius, Everlasting Sweet Peas...perennial, come up every year. Great for bank or slope. No fragrance though!
Lavatera ‘Barnsley’...hardy deciduous perennial, 6-8’tall shrub, pink blooms with deeper centers. You won’t want to be without this! One of the loveliest blossoms to be found on a shrub, or anywhere!
Lavatera Trimestris, Rose Mallow...hardy annual, clear pink blossoms look similar to hollyhocks.
Leptinella squalida ‘Platt’s Black'...Brass Buttons NEW! Excellent groundcover featuring tiny ferny leaves that are almost black. This striking and unusual perennial is excellent between pavers or stepping stones. A Great Plant Pick for the Pacific Northwest.
Ligularia, dentata... ‘Marie Britt Crawford’. Patented Hybrid. Darkest, largest,huge dark leaves with maroon undersides, loves boggy soil and prt sun. Do use ‘Sluggo’ bait for slugs. Multi flowered golden yellow bouquet blooms in late summer.Enjoy the sight or cut them off to put vigor into leaves. I suggest planting this variety in a huge (24" or larger) pot with companions ‘Hillside Black Beauty’ Cimicifuga and bright colored tuberous begonias or impatiens. Wow!
Linaria purpurea
   ‘J. Canon Went’, Purple Toadflax...
Part Sun, 30-36" tall, Spires of soft pink tiny blooms from June through Sept.. Airy delicate appearing but extremely hardy, politely self sowing accent among larger flowered plants. Wonderful in bouquets.
   ‘Snow Bird’...pure white form of toadflax.

Lupine...fragrant Late Spring blooming perennials. New hybrid forms no longer need to be cut to the ground after blooming. We’ve not had a lick of mildew on these:
   ‘Gallery Mix’ solid red, pink, blue. We’re excited to see this too!
   ‘Morello Cherry’...NEW Larger flowers in solid cherry red.hybrid with mildew resistance

Malva sylvestris mauritiana...vivid shades of purple & magenta on hardy perennial. Loves Sun/prt Sun
Meconopsis, Betonicifolia...Himalayan Blue Poppy. Incredible deep sky blue blooms. Prt Shade, moist well-drained soil. Short lived perennial.
Mints: Chocolate, Ginger, Lime, Pineapple-Variegated, Sweet Pear, Orange Spearmint. Best to grow these in pots to keep them "in bounds" These love moist soils.
Nasturtium... ‘Alaska’ variegated leaves & cheery blooms in oranges and yellows.

Polemonium, Great for moist, well-drained morning sun or shady areas & Slugs don’t like them!
   *’Bris de Anjou’...variegated Jacob’s Ladder Does NOT seed about

   *‘Snow & Sapphires’...variagation: bright white with green
   NEW! ‘Stairway to Heaven’...much hardier and less susceptible to mildew. Lovely variegated green & white leaves with pink blush in mid summer.

Pulmonaria...Slugs & Deer don’t eat these shade lovers! Grow these in part to full moist shade. They’ll bloom in very early spring with blue or pink flowers that fade to the opposite color. Often known as "boy/girl" plant as a common or "pet" name. Dependable in your woodland.

 "Moonshine" Mature foliage is moonlike with fully silvered centers and deep green edges ...spring flowers a bonus as the bright foliage brightens shady corners so well.  ‘Cevensis’ Clusters of bright blue spring flowers top long, narrow leaves heavily blotched with sparking silver. 10" tall 24" wide ‘Dark Vader’-Dark foliage with silver spots...great contrast to Moonshine. ‘Jeepers Creepers’...creeping, not leaping, groundcover form.

Roscoea scillifolia...Miniature form...Himalayan tuberous perennial increases quickly by offsets and by seed creating a delightful mass of broadly grassy foliage 6-8" high with lots of gentle pink flowers of elvish charm. Half sun/part shade. A charming little urchin!
Sisyrinchium NEW!'Devon Skies'...Beefier foliage and larger blooms on hardier plants.
Stachys byzantina, Lambs Ears...fuzzy soft grayish leaves made a wonderful foliage effect, try in potpourri too! We’re now growing a variety that does not get the rather coarse, ugly flowers.
Tiarella...Wonderful shade lover that thrives, once established, in dry shade. We grow several varieties, and plan to add more each season. Dependable evergreen foliage & great plant!
   ‘Heronswood’...Bred at Heronswood Nursery by Dan Hinkley, variagated, layers of cool pink, cream and green settle like a mist, very pastel and delightful as a dainty groundcover, not invasive, clumping form. For woodland shade.... A "must have!"
   ‘Spring Symphony’- Brightest pink of all the tiarella blossoms. Dependable clumping form, hardy.
   ‘Crow Feather’- best winter foliage color, a bit larger foliage and more sturdy plant. Clumper
   ‘Jeepers Creepers’- Plant this one to fill in a garden bed. Politely creeping form.

Tricyrtis hirta, Toad Lily...Part to Full Shade, Very Hardy. 24-36", Moist humusy well drained soil .Speckled blossoms in August through October. Woodland shade garden must!

"Togen"-large unspotted lavender with darker purple accented blossoms that bloom earlier than the species. My personal favorite.
NEW! ‘’Moonlight Treasure’ Luscious large yellow blooms, healthy lush foliage. "Lasiocarpa" from Taiwan. Amazing blue/purple spotted blooms, largest I’ve ever seen on a toad lily and spotted leaves on mature foliage! You won’t want to miss this one.

•*Trollius...Globeflower,24-36"tall x 24"wide, Loves constantly moist, rich humusy soil in Shade to partial sun. Yellow blossoms in July & August.
*Uvularia sessilifolia,Bellwort, A petite woodlander from the NE which gently creeps about mingling with ferns and Trillium. 9" tall. Neat little pale yellow bell flowers. Likes loose woodsy moist soil.
Verbascum...Sun/prt Sun, well-drained soil. Tall spires with blooms of white with mauve or rosy purple centers and purple with pink centers. Refreshingly unusual and lovely.
Veronica, "Georgia Blue"...Sun/Part Sun, intense bright true blue tiny blossoms cover this exhuberant vining bronze leaved selection. We put them in hanging baskets, to come back each year from Spring until the hard frost knocks them back in late Fall.. In mild winters it will not go dormant.
*Veronicastrum virginicum "Album", White Culver’s Root...Sun/Prt Sun, 5-7’ tall & 3-4’ wide, Strong Vertical statement in the garden. White Spire Blooms in late Aug, and Sept.
Viola, True English violas: these are propagated from cuttings, as the seeds would cross pollinate.
   "Rebecca" Exquisite ruffled purple edged white blooms.Fragrant!
   "Painted Porcelain"- Delightful white with purple accents...delicate as fine porcelain
 "Columbine"...purple & white tie dye effect...rebloom all summer if picked.
 "Mars"...Amazing foliage with a purple centerad interest all season.Spring blooms.

Viola, Seeded varieties...distinctive ‘faces’ on a purple viola..
   ‘Amanda’...palest yellow edged with purple, a sport I’ve named for my middle granddaughter.
Viola Tricolor Maxima... "Joker", purple & white ‘faces’. Dries beautifully, try in potpourris.
Viola x wittrockiana..."Satin Boudoir" pansies, "Black Moon" pansies.
Violette
   *’Freckles’ white with purple freckles, my personal favorite ! Reseeds but not agressively so....never seems to lose it’s wonderful pokadots! * ‘La Violette’,fragrant purple double blossoms
Zaluskiatus...Night Phlox...intense almond fragrance but inconspicuous white blooms which open after sunset. Vining reseeding tender perennial, perfect planted in with other more showy plants. Try near bedroom windows or where evening breezes will bring you perfumed evenings or pleasant dreams!
Native Trees & shrubs, ask for specific wants...we grow most of them, or can get them for you.
